I believe we all want to make our homes beautiful and it can become very stressful at the cost of how expensive home decor can cost.
Here is a inexpensive way of having gorgeous curtains and custom curtain rods. To add extra beauty to your home.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
TOOLS
screwgun
tape measure
level
PVC pipe cutter
screws
MATERIALS
CURTAINS
Canvas drop cloths–I get mine from Home Depot 6×9 feet.
Curtain Ring with Clips I get mine from AMAZON
CURTAIN RODS (IF NO CURTAIN RODS SKIP THIS STEP)
black spray paint (or desired color)
DIRECTIONS
Curtains:
lay drop cloth
cut down center of fabric and pull down the seam to divide in half
Iron if desired (I sprayed mine with febreeze and in 3 days they were wrinkle free)
add four clips onto the curtain (have the cut seam go toward wall and clean edge toward window) and hang
White Curtain Look:
fill washer or tub with hot water (large load)
add 1/2 gallon of bleach
let cloth sit in mix for 8 hours
run wash after 8 hours
delicate dry or air dry
Cut pipe to size:
After cutting pipe, spray paint pipes to desired color
Put copper bell hangers above window at desired height.
Put pipe into them
add fitting for custom bay windows etc.
Open curtain hooks and hang curtains(4 clips to each curtain)
No sewing, no hassle. I love these so much and I will probably use them in our home forever. If you’ve never tried drop cloth curtains, I’d definitely suggest giving them a go. You just can’t go wrong at $11 for two curtain panels!
Since they are canvas I actually think they’re a bit heavier than your typical curtain. They’re certainly not black-out curtains, but they still do a great job when it comes to keeping light out. They are AWESOME. I hope this step by step drop cloth curtain tutorial was helpful.
